Guess what makes me weak at the knees

It’s no secret, i’m a self confessed shoe-aholic. It doesn’t take much for a pair of shoes to make me drool but when it comes to Guess shoes, I’m not exaggerating when I say they make me weak at the knees. Here I was wandering around in a sea of designer shoes at the David Jones shoe sale, I mean there were Oroton, DKNY, Armani, Florsheim, Milana shoes there for the taking, I was in my element – But when I got to the Guess table with 40% off – well lets just say the world stopped, I started salivating and yep, I went weak at the knees.

Somebody please tell me who designs the shoes for Guess, because I am absolutely in awe.  I had to exercise every ounce of self control not to splurge as I walked out of that shoe sale empty handed. “No K” I said to myself “you have enough Guess shoes, you don’t need more”…

Well, now I’m home, let’s recap on my Guess shoe collection and see whether I do in fact need more…

First, there’s the leopard print heels with a hint of red.  Great for dressing up some plain black pants or a skirt at the office, or with a racy LBD on a night out.

Then there’s my faithful Sexy Black heels, that never fail to impress and go with anything!

These shoes are made for comfort  too – I brought them to wear to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup and I wore them without any pain from 9am right through  until 2am!

Yes, these ones have  definitely earned their place in my closet!

And last but not least the ever so functional kitten heel points (yes, Guess make sensible shoes sometimes too!)

So,What is the answer to the question:

Do I have enough Guess shoes?

NO! of course I don’t. I don’t feel a  sense of satisfaction or pride from walking away from that Guess sale at David Jones empty handed.  In fact, I think I failed miserably!  Clearly what I need are MORE Guess shoes in my wardrobe, they’re amazing, functional, and sexy! Nice one sensible K  pffft that’s the last time I listen to you.  First chance I get, I’m going back to that sale, and I won’t be walking away empty handed!

Dreaming of Guess….

From Paris with love…

So, K is well ahead of me in the posts! I must admit I am discovering the world of blogging so please be kind.

To begin… I’m married with kids. So I dress not only to look fabulous but I also dress smart most days to be able to navigate my way through the day to tackle such things as bending over a million times, stain-potential tasks and walking everywhere. I like to be comfortable. So I must say, white is limited in my wardrobe and my heels are not too high and not too low, they’re just right!

Just like K, I love hand-me-downs and I love a great find at the op-shop!

Which brings me to today’s outfit. It certainly has a story behind it, like most op shop finds and hand-me-downs, but I think this one is kind of special…

I love my knit which I am told it came from Paris…say no more! The previous owner hadn’t even wore it, the tags were still on it when she gave it to me and she thought it had my name all over it. I tend to agree really, don’t you? The grapes on the back are just gorgeous and it has delicate white elbow patches. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of wearing it nor will it ever leave my wardrobe.

And my shoes…my shoes…

Now here’s a sad story that ended happily ever after. Upon moving recently, we donated a whole lot of stuff to a local charity last week. Flash forward to the weekend and I realise my boys’ baby clothing is missing! To say the least, I was truly devastated. I had plans to up-cycle their wares into blankets for them both and suddenly the memories and the motherly task were taken away from me, just like that!

On the Sunday I called the Charity just in case they hadn’t unpacked the two painstakingly sorted bags of each of boys clothing, crying on the other end of the phone like a sad, blubbering mess, when someone picked up the phone.

“Hello?” I say bawling now after no sleep from the previous night worrying about who had bought their first little beanie they wore home from hospital or the cute little rompers that I no longer have….”yes, we still have them and yes, no one has touched them, they are still in their bags…you’re LUCKY we had a busy day yesterday” “Oh My God, Oh My God!….May I have them back?” …”yes”!

Now I do have a heart and I felt bad about taking back from a charity, but my reasons were just and sentimental. So when I picked them up yesterday, I thought I’d have a dig around and buy something to clear my conscience, right the wrongs in the world and make karma happy.

Actually, I think  Karma came my way after I found these shoes. Never worn RMK’s in just the colour I’ve been looking for, at the perfect height and just at the right price of $5. Couldn’t have asked for a better find really. Could even call myself  a little lucky…

Shoes and Socks …

I may be a little slow on the uptake, but I am loving the whole heels with socks kind of thing that seems to be in right now.

Yesterday I wore my lace stockings with hot pink ballet flats, complete with my hair in a large bun I felt like a true ballerina.

These lace socks are so cute and quirky. Dare me to try this out at the office today? i think i just might! …

For those who aren’t so daring, these little lace sockets are just adorable! and a perfect way to add a little sweetness to any outfit.

And last but not least, and not for the fainthearted, I would love to get my hands on a pair of these!

Strangely Inside Out,

Remember Emily the Strange? Last week I inherited a vintage jumper by Emily the Strange. It was strange and I didn’t much care for the pattern with bones all over it.

Image

I quickly realised that i much preferred to wear it inside out!  So much so that I removed the pocket and buttons from the outside, and sewed them on the inside. Now, I can wear vintage Emily the Strange, inside out… or outside out, as i now see it. Thanks Emily!

Gloves with Glam!

Image

Winter is well and truly here. It was only last week I was walking to work with freezing hands, not even my jacket pockets were keeping them warm!  Meanwhile, unbeknownst to me, my ever amazing Mum was busily working away on her latest project, “Gloves with glam”.  Being in such high demand, all of her work colleagues, coffee shop attendants, daughters and daughters in law now have a pair to help them through these cold winter mornings.

These adorable gloves certainly bring warmth to my mornings and the cute embellishments never fail to bring a smile to my face and instantly brighten my day 🙂

What Makes Your Heart Sing?

Do what makes you happy. To deny yourself of that is to deny who you are.

Do what makes your heart sing because it will resonate with your soul, your purpose and will raise your vibration. In turn it will raise the vibration of those around you. The ripple effect of living out your hearts desire will astound you …

So we are told. Well, We’re about to discover all this and more. This blog is the first step in a long anticipated journey of self discovery and expression through what we love most. Fashion.

As the lady herself said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” Coco Chanel.

Fashion is our way of life.
